What Good News REALLY Means
My editor called me today. She wanted to answer any questions I had about her comments. She also wanted to let me know that the book people are excited about the book. Wow.
But what does that excitement actually mean? They want the revisions ASAP so that they can put the book into production.
This is wonderful news, and a huge BLESSING! But it is going to come down to focused and disciplined work. As writers, we always pray for enthusiastic editors and favorable responses. It is easy to forget the sometimes anguished, often taxing, process by which that excitement gets generated by writers.
In addition to making red marks on manuscript pages, I began putting supports in place to make the manuscript delivery happen. I thought through my family’s childcare needs and placed some calls. I phoned a trusted reader to ask for his help.
But for all of my planning and work revising the manuscript today, a snowstorm is headed my way. Oh, well.
I feel in the flow of the project and am grateful for that.

I got your back on childcare…don’t trouble yourself any further. Yes a snow day can mean a lot of things, but mostly a chance to slow the fuck down and dream some other dreams! You are a gem!
