hey, this was a great post. what a day! I think Dr. King
would be excited. But I also think he’d remind us of the dangers

Ooops! I almost forgot! Today, while I was waiting for my dad to get out of surgery, I gave one of your books to two african american women who were waiting for someone, also. I gave them a quick synopsis (so as not to bore them, or spoil it), wished them a happy Martin Luther King, Jr day AND inaugural day, etc., etc…They were delighted to know about you and thrilled about your book! It was mad love, all the way around!

Then, I met some white, very uptight republicans that were there to visit my dad. I gave them your book, with huge props! They’re “looking forward to reading it.” LOL! *shaking my head*

Happy Birthday, indeed! Jennifer, that I was fortunate enough to reconnect with you after all of these years; soak in your eloquent wisdom and share a meal and so many ideas with you prior to Dr. King’s birthday memorial AND the inauguration of President Obama, well..to say I am humbled and grateful is an understatement! WOW!

I am privileged to be part of the “integration generation.” and to have been lucky enough to be your neighbor, for a short while. I’ve been fortunate enough to be exposed to a life of vibrant colors, and many of the people and cultures that live within them. That was made possible by Dr. King’s work, and so many before and after him, including you and your family, and mine, too.

Thanks, Jennifer and thank you Dr. King! You are a guardian of the truth, Jennifer. I hope to see you soon, my friend! Congratulations and damnit, it’s a long, long time coming!
