Book Jacket
The first time I saw the final cover for the book I nearly cried! It took the entire project to an entirely new and exciting level.
I’ll share a quick story.
A few months ago, I received a draft of the cover. The street photographed looked straight out of Leave It to Beaver–too eastern US. I wasn’t really connecting with it. I said as much to my editor who agreed. The head of the art department felt the same way and decided that the only way to capture the setting of my girlhood experience was to photograph it.
So quick as you please, Touchstone contacted a Los Angeles photographer who went to work and did an amazing job. Then, the art department worked their magic, added the school pictures and here we are.
I know how fortunate I am to have a cover that thrills me.
Every time I catch a glimpse of the cover, I can’t help but smile.

The book jacket is amazing. Knowing what happened to you earlier in the day of that photograph makes it even that much more haunting, but in a very good, if somewhat somber way.
