Another Exciting Week!
In the past few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of talking to people across the country. At book events, on radio programs, and via the web, people have shared their own powerful journeys through integration. I have been humbled and amazed by their courage and candor.
I began writing The Black Girl Next Door because I couldn’t find a book like it on the shelf. As I travel and listen, I’m learning that all kinds of people connect with my girlhood. More than that, I connect with their experiences. Each account adds texture to the fabric of our shared humanity. Thanks.

I am reading “The Black Girl Next Door”. So far I have found it to be a wonderful book with lots of insight and many instances that bring back my own girlhood and I can relate to them whole heartedly. It is personal for me - you see my daughter is part of the Baszile family - she is a professor at Miami of Ohio - She can also relate to those kind of experiences and things she went through I felt emotionally. For me it is also family history especially for her children (Amina and Chas). I will make sure that The Black Girl Next Door is read to them and other children - I feel your story will give them an appreciation for life and who they are as people of color along with the pust and strive for success. Much more success to you. Once your Dad asked me how did I raise a daughter like Denise and I really don’t remember my answer except that I did it with love the best way I knew how.
